Mission Core Values Philosophy of Ministry

Thank you for this opportunity to tell you about Noelridge Christian Church. We hope that this brief note will help introduce you to our family. We hope you see something here for you.

Noelridge Christian Church is a relatively young church, founded in 1959. Yet we have proud history in the Cedar Rapids community and as members of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) denomination.

We hope you have the opportunity to learn more about us through worship, study, fellowship or small-group experiences. We hope you feel comfortable here and we look forward to sharing our ministry with YOU!
Welcome!

A YOUNG CHURCH WITH A PROUD HERITAGE.
Noelridge Christian Church was born at the end of the Baby-Boom era. Founded in 1959, we worshiped at our former location at 727 Collins Road NE until November 1997, when we moved to our new location at 7111 C Avenue NE. The construction of our new building helped accomodate the growth of our congregation and the need for a facility that supports the many ministries we feel called to provide.

We have been blessed with young families all of our short history. Therefore we seek to resource families with parenting or marriage helps.

MEMBERS FROM ALL WALKS OF LIFE
The members of our congregation come from throughout the Linn County area and various economic levels. Many members are professionals or craftspeople employed by area companies, but we also have many retirees, business owners, homemakers and students. Our members also come from a variety of religious affiliations to no previous background at all.

GROUNDED IN THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH (DISCIPLES OF CHRIST)

Noelridge Christian Church is firmly grounded in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) denomination.

As Disciples, we strive to remain obedient to the teachings of Jesus and the New Testament by practicing a faith that is socially relevant and that makes sense. We are bound together in fellowship and service by belief in the central confession of the New Testament "that Jesus is the Son of the living God." (Matthew 16:16).

Our congregation celebrates the Lord's Supper every Sunday. We practice open communion, which means it is not necessary to belong to our church to take communion.

A CHURCH WITH A VISION AND MISSION
As a result of a strategic planning process we completed a few years ago, our congregation adopted a new mission for our church and our ministry. Our mission is:

"To the glory of God, serve our neighbor and bring more people to faith in Jesus Christ and help all grow in the grace and knowledge of God's love."

We also condensed that mission to our motto: "Serving to Save and Growing to Know."

That mission is manifested in several ways. We offer educational opportunities for our members through Sunday School, TLC groups, study and prayer opportunities. We reach out into the local, national, and international communities in support of outreach activites ranging from world hunger efforts to support for local jail chaplaincy. We tell the Good News through Sunday worship and our music and drama ministries.

A recent focus for us has been our ministry to families. We feel the family is central to personal and spiritual growth and adherence to the principles of Jesus. We promote family ministry through our small groups, Sunday school classes, and family activites.
